What’s the hiring process for translators?

AW Holding INT’L has strict recruitment and testing procedures in place to ensure that you will only ever have the very best linguists working on the projects.

Step 1: Pre-Selection phase

This step consists in proactively analyzing the need for new linguists to cover all internal translation projects, and searching professional databases like Proz, Translators Café and social groups of translations (Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, etc...) and collecting initial information about potential candidates.

Step 2: Selection phase

This starts by short listing translators who represent a strategic interest for us in terms of expertise, language pairs, competitive prices…), then an agreement and test are sent to the translators and reviewers. The selection test is evaluated according to this scale: [Not Acceptable/Bad/Fair/Good/Good+/Very Good/Excellent]. Upon signing the agreement, memos are sent to the contracted candidates.

Step 3: Post Selection phase

Successful candidates with associated language pairs and domains of expertise are added to Suppliers List to be used by Project Managers for real assignments. After the first few projects, deliveries are analyzed with the same level of expectation as the initial test. The trial period spans over three months and the translators and reviewers are added to our Suppliers List as new status for one year.

Step 4: On-going evaluation of fully approved translators

Once translators have gained the “Old status”, they are subject to continuous assessment. No matter how long they have been in activity and the history they have with us, evaluations of their work are performed regularly.

Poor results on any translation checks performed by AW or negative feedback from clients trigger an exceptional evaluation.
